The ongoing research on food insecurity and food poverty amongst average Nigerian pensioners, “The FutureHopeEmpowerment UK and Josiah FutureHopeEmpowerment foundation Nigeria” have analysed survey data and interviewed pensioners who are aged people in our chosen geographical location, who have little or no strength to begin activating new streams of income.
Our findings reveal that pension that is defined as a regular payment made to people who have retired from service, having attained the official retirement age has not been paid for several months and many of the aged people are at risk of under-nutrition as a result of poverty, or not timely receiving their regular payment to enable them purchase food items.
Data survey collected shows that aged people in the targeted age group are in persistent food poverty. The risk of under-nutrition, a major cause of declination of functional organs among aged people.
Our intervention is to prevent poorer health outcomes, falls, and delays in recovery from illness.
